British Elite Junior Diving Championships & Dresden Youth International, Germany

This year Aberdeen Diving Club had one diver, Clara Kerr, competing in the GB Junior Elite Championships in Plymouth. This is the biggest junior event in the calendar for only the best divers in each age group so an amazing achievement to even get there.

Clara competed in the girls group B 1m, 3m and platform events. She trained very well throughout the week, getting noticed by the junior performance director. The first competition of the week was platform. The aim for this event was to try finish in the top 6 to progress through to the final. Clara dived outstandingly in her prelim to qualify for the final in 2nd place with a score of 299.65. She then went on to better her score in the final and came away as the girls group B platform champion with a PB of 314.00.

The following day, Clara was competing in the 3m event. We went into this competition with no pressure and Clara performed a very steady set of dives to finish 12th with a score of 301.15 which again is another personal best. There was only 5 points between 12th place and the top 6 so very close to the final. On the last day of competitions, Clara was up in the Girls B 1m event. Clara put together a lovely set of dives qualifying her for a second final of the week. She then went on to finish 6th in the final. A PDF of all the results from the day can be found on the Results page.

Due to her excellent performance on platform, she was selected for a place in the GB junior team to compete in the Dresden Youth International from the 23rd-30th April in Germany. Clara was diving in the girls group B platform event.

In Dresden, she continued her good form, training well in a new environment for her. This was the first competition in which she was diving without her own coach and she coped very well with this situation. There were no expectations to make a final as this was mainly for experience. However, Clara dived beautifully in the prelims to qualify for the final in 9th place. This was an excellent result, surpassed by an even better performance in the final beating her score by 38 points to finish in an amazing 4th place in her first GB international.

Everyone in ADC would like to congratulate Clara on her outstanding achievements this month and hope there are many more to come.
